THE WORKING MEN PROJECT

 

The Working Men Project aims to provide a quality service of sexual health and HIV prevention. It is open to any men - no matter of sexuality, age, ethnicity or spiritual belief - who sell sex.

The project provides free, expert help in all aspects of sexual health, including screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections and advice about HIV (the virus that can causes AIDS).

We have a full-time male Nurse Practitioner, with a Support Nurse and access to understanding medical staff, and we give treatment and support in relaxed surrounding with complete confidentiality.

The Working Men Project is a partner member of the European Network Male Prostitution (ENMP), and can provide information on appropriate services for male sex workers across the European Communities.


WHAT WE OFFER YOU

Confidential testing and check-ups for sexually transmitted infections. (It’s worth having a check-up, even if you feel OK).

Free medical treatment and free medicines.

Confidential test for HIV, with counselling available, both before and after the test.

Vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B.

Advice on sexual health, and information about infections and how to prevent them.

Information on a free supplies of condoms, lubricants and dental dams (shields for safer rimming), for men registered with the project.

Answers to question about safer sex, problems with split condoms, legal matters and other issues of concern.

Advice on other health matters and referral to other specialist sexual health services if required.

Help to register with a understanding GP and details of local dentists.

PEMS (Peer Education with Male Sexworkers) support and training programme for men selling sex, exploring issues such as self esteem and negotiating safety for clients.

Outreach services, the taking of sexual health advice and condoms supplies onto the street, into massage parlours / saunas and escort agencies and to the flats of men working privately from home.

At all times, a friendly and sympathetic atmosphere, with complete privacy and confidentiality.
